“Under the Frigid Moon's blizzard, the party fought their way across a snowbound city, starting with a flashback to twelve-year-old Tavaria surviving the original Scourge before cutting to the present-day slaughter of three cackling ice gnolls that left Deacon and Azquireth cursed with permanent smiles. After hauling their makeshift sled through a hailstorm and burning through a string of stolen doors for cover, the party reached the Ruby District orphanage, delivered Henry's medicine, and were ambushed by a shapeshifting child-monster that assimilated both Deacon and Azquireth with tendrils. A desperate field surgery followed: Tavaria injected Deacon with fire-blood poison and Derrin, Deacon, and Tavaria combined lightning and dagger surgery to burn the parasite out of Azquireth, both surviving at the edge of death. After a short rest and a supply run to their old house, the party pushed through the eye of the storm toward the Scourge crack, ending the session face to face with a hulking white-haired, insectoid creature perched on a nearby steeple.”
